Mike - GORGEOUS. You have obviously done this before. The art of portraiture is not easy and I am hoping the camera club will start to encouraging more of this type of photography this season. Light is so important. In your photograph there are no bleached out whites or featureless blacks, except for the background, which is designed to make the subject stand out. The hair has a nice sheen to it, perfect single catchlights in her eyes and bags of eye contact with the camera. Beautiful. I would have loved to have taken it myself. One minor thing that judges may comment on - part of her arm and the top of her head are slightly cut off. You may think this is nit-picking, but judges need something to criticise! Normally, a small gap is required above a head and around arms..... OR, go in even closer. Very small parts missing is fodder for judges. .....Brian

Brian, many thanks for your comments and no I don't think it's nit picking it's a very good point and much appreciated.
Shes very used to her old dad pointing the camera in her direction now and makes a good model to practise on, cheap too
